The Weekend Preview: Three Must-Watch Men's Volleyball Matchups

Another huge weekend of men’s college volleyball will close out the month of January. These three matchups are must-watch competitions in our book.

George Mason at Ball State
Thursday, January 26, 7:30 PM ET
Last weekend, EIVA and MIVA teams played each other in three different matches, with the MIVA teams emerging victorious in all three of those battles. EIVA preseason favorite George Mason has a chance to flip the trend when it travels to Muncie, Indiana, to face Ball State.
No. 5 Long Beach State at No. 1 Ohio State
Saturday, January 28, 7 PM ET
The reigning national champion Buckeyes have yet to really be challenged in 2017 (they’ve only dropped two SETS), but this Long Beach State team has the potential to do just that. The 49ers had a fantastic showing last weekend, knocking off Hawaii in two consecutive matches.
No. 10 UC Irvine at No. 3 BYU
Friday, January 27, 7 PM MT
& Saturday, January 28, 7 PM MT
These MPSF foes will play two nights in a row in Provo, Utah. BYU is undefeated in conference but has only played two MPSF matches. UCI is 3-2 in league competition. If the No. 10 Anteaters have a hope of overcoming the third-ranked Cougars, they’ll need to limit BYU opposite Ben Patch’s scoring opportunities.
